A sign at John O’Groats showing the distance to Land’s End and New York

Over a gruelling couple of weeks this autumn, the HA&W team are completing an epic challenge.

Last year, we completed a “by any means necessary” virtual challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

For the HA&W 2022 Fundraiser challenge, we are doubling that journey!

Our dedicated team – along with friends and family members – are virtually travelling the length of the UK… and back again. That’s a whopping 2,166 miles.

Keep reading to find out how we’ve been getting on so far.

There… and back again

Over the last week or so, our dedicated team has been walking, running, cycling, rowing, and swimming the length of the country!

We are delighted to confirm that we have now covered the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

And this, despite some incredible challenges along the way.

One of our team has been in Covid recovery, another has tested positive for Covid mid-challenge, and another team member also became poorly. Yet, we are all powering through.

We are now over halfway – that’s an incredible 1,091 miles covered – and we’ve remained ahead of target.

We’ve been helped along the way by Aly, who has completed a “Sprint” triathlon. For those of you that haven’t come across one before, this is a single race that takes in a 750m swim, a 20k bike ride, and finally a 5k run.

Here’s where we are on the map of the UK (as of 26 September), heading south on the return leg from John O’Groats.

There’s still time to support us and the Loughborough Food Bank

We might be on the homeward leg but there’s still plenty of time to support us and help a great cause.

Head to our 2022 Fundraiser page to find out how you can donate. You’ll also find more information about the amazing work that the Loughborough Food Bank do.
