We are proud to be a firm of Chartered Financial Planners.

We firmly believe that Chartered status is the ‘gold standard’ of financial planning. It means we:

  • Have achieved the highest levels of technical and professional knowledge and competence through professional qualifications
  • Keep our knowledge and skills up to date through continuing professional development
  • Adhere to an ethical conduct, which could be enforced through disciplinary sanctions

By working with a firm of Chartered Financial Planners it means you can be confident that you are dealing with one of the UK’s leading planning practices, which is committed to providing you with the best possible advice, service and support.

Only the UK’s premier financial planning firms qualify for Chartered status. We believe so passionately in the benefits that our Chartered status brings to our clients that only advisers who have already attained that standard, or have a clear commitment to do so, will be considered as potential additions to our team.

We are award-winning

We were delighted to win the Small Adviser of the Year category at the 2019 Money Marketing Awards.

The annual awards recognise leaders in the financial advice profession. It has a meticulous selection process, starting with a written application, where we had to detail our working processes and the value we deliver clients and finishing with a rigorous panel interview.

Winning the award cements the efforts we continuously make to put clients and their wellbeing at the very heart of our business.

The judges described us as: “A highly competent firm, with demonstrable expertise across its niche, who forwards the profession of financial planning as a whole.”

Our approach received praise for the ability to deliver a ‘full’ financial plan to clients, along with great technical knowledge, transparency for clients, and flexibility with fee models. Also, our commitments to charity projects and enhancing the profession of financial planning as a whole were also recognised during the process. One of the judges concluded: “I would have no issue at all referring clients to the firm.”

We hold the Pension Transfer Gold Standard

We’re proud to be a firm that has met the criteria to achieve the Pension Transfer Gold Standard, a voluntary code of good practice for safeguarded and Defined Benefit pension transfer advice.

The Pension Transfer Gold Standard has been developed by the Personal Finance Society (PFS) and seeks to give Defined Benefit pension holders confidence when they are considering transferring out of a scheme. Nine core principles sit at its heart, which are all central to our processes and culture.

Learn more about the nine principles.

You can start to understand more about when advice might be necessary, or indeed mandatory, by clicking here to read a guide produced by the PFS.

We ask all clients who are reviewing their Defined Benefit pensions to complete a guided learning process before deciding if they should take advice.

Our financial planners are highly experienced and regularly advise members of Final Salary and Defined Benefit pensions.

We will help you understand your objectives, goals and needs. Where necessary, we will also help you understand the occasions where your objectives and goals may conflict with your needs.

Once these are understood, we will produce financial simulations to consider how your future might look if you remain in the scheme or transfer out, considering issues such as your requirement to access capital and the need to produce a sustainable income for the rest of your life. We will also consider tax efficiency, the impact of your death and how you might be affected if things go wrong in your life or in the wider economy.

Our fees and charges are clearly defined. Indeed, we are in the minority of financial planning firms that disclose our charges online.

You can view our charges by clicking here.

We will also confirm the total costs you might pay if you were to transfer in writing before engaging you as a client.

We are proud to be a firm of Chartered Financial Planners; the gold standard of financial planning.

Furthermore, all our financial planners specialise in working with clients who have Defined Benefit or Final Salary Pensions. Such work is complex, you can be assured that all our financial planners have the necessary experience and qualifications to undertake it.

Furthermore, all our planners undertake rigorous professional development to ensure their knowledge remains up to date.

We work diligently to monitor all activity and uncover potential conflicts of interests before they arise. Should this happen, you can be assured that they will be declared to you and managed to your satisfaction.

We issue a comprehensive report which includes a detailed description of all charges and an explanation of their effects.

We never have or will recommend unregulated investments. Nor will we ever, accept the introduction of new clients from unregulated introducers.

We are transparent in everything we do; for example, we are one of only 5% of firms who disclose their fees online.

At our initial meeting, we will talk you through our advice process and explain the possible outcomes. You can understand more about what to expect when we work with you by clicking here.

Firms that adopt the Pension Transfer Gold Standard must:

  • Have regulatory permissions for provisions or pension transfer advice. Therefore, we have demonstrated high levels of the financial and technical knowledge required to appropriately advise on pension transfers.
  • Not currently be under any form of ongoing regulatory sanction by the regulator or accredited body in this field of advice. You can, therefore, rest assured that we operate to the highest standards.
  • Have adopted all the principles of the Pension Transfer Gold Standard without exception. Accordingly, you can have confidence that we will uphold the above principles.

By working with a firm that has voluntarily committed to the Pension Transfer Gold Advice, you can be confident that you will receive the best possible advice, service and support when considering transferring out of a Defined Benefit pension scheme.

We hold the Cyber Essentials certification

We take cybersecurity very seriously. So, we are delighted to have been awarded the Cyber Essentials certification.

When you see the Cyber Essentials badge, you can feel confident that you are dealing with a company that takes the security, confidentiality, and integrity of your data, seriously, and has taken all necessary measures to protect it against cyber-attack.

It is awarded to those firms that can show they meet stringent criteria, as laid down by the National Cyber Security Centre, a part of GCHQ.

Those criteria ensure that:

  • We use only secure internet connections
All our devices and software are protected through the use of firewalls. Firewalls effectively create a ‘buffer zone’ between our IT network and other, external networks, which means that we can better keep out the traffic we don’t want to enter our network.
  • We use only the most secure settings for our devices and software
We have checked the settings on all our software and raised the level of security wherever necessary to ensure they cannot be accessed by those who do not have permission.
  • Access to our data and services is strictly controlled
We ensure that all data that we hold is only accessible through user accounts, that administrative privileges are given only to those who require them to perform their role, and that what administrators can do with the data we hold, is closely controlled.
  • We protect our devices and software from viruses and malware
The term malware is short for ‘malicious software’ and can include things such as ransomware, and viruses, which are a specific type of malware intended to replicate and spread. These programs are designed to infect legitimate software, passing unnoticed between machines, whenever they can. Cyber Essentials certification shows that we use proven anti-malware measures to prevent these dangers from entering our systems.
  • All devices, software and apps that we use are kept updated
By ensuring that we regularly update our devices and software, we can keep our systems secure and protected from any new security threats.
